    Ph.D. Program: Arabic, Armenian, Persian, Islamic, and Turkish Studies

    Dzovinar Derderian is concentrating on the Socio-Cultural history of the Ottoman Empire during the Tanzimat reform era of the nineteenth century. She is particularly interested in the language with which petitioners from the eastern Ottoman provinces, which included Kurds and Armenians, expressed themselves when writing to the Ottoman state and the Armenian Patriarchate in Istanbul.
