  • About

Since leaving the ASP, Susan Pattie returned to London where she continues to teach for the Syracuse University London Program.  In 2010, as Director of the Armenian Institute, she organized two major exhibitions at the Brunei Gallery of the School of Oriental and African Studies.  An exhibition created by Osman Koker, "My Dear Brother: Armenians in Turkey 100 Years Ago," was brought from Istanbul and displayed for three months.  Some 10,000 people visited this and a second exhibition on a separate floor, "Treasured Objects: Armenian Daily Life in the Ottoman Empire," displaying items from trousseaux to hand-written prayers and traced their usually circuitous journey to Great Britain. An oral history project, interviews with and films of the families owning these objects accompanied the exhibition.

In the autumn of 2010, Dr. Pattie and two colleagues completed a children’s book, "Who Are the Armenians," colorfully illustrated and accompanied by a CD. She is currently working on the book of the Treasured Objects exhibition.
