Research/Teaching Specialization: Professor Miller's research focuses on the nature and sources of early mathematical and literacy development, on cross-cultural similarities and differences in academic learning and performance, and more recently on utilizing video records to engage teachers with issues of instructional practice. Professor Miller has a joint appointment as Professor of Education, affiliated with CPEP and Educational Studies, and Professor of Psychology, effective January 1, 2005. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Since 1990, he has been an Assistant Professor and then an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Psychology and the Beckman Institute.
