Author Bio: Zaki Laïdi is a Senior Research fellow at the Centre d'Etudes Européennes of SciencesPo. (Paris) and a professor at College of Europe (Bruges). He has written extensively on international relations, globalization and more recently on European affairs. He has recently published The Great Disruption (Polity, 2007), Norms over Force. The Enigma of European Power (Palgrave, 2008). He has edited a forthcoming volume on EU Foreign Policy in a globalized world. Normative power and social preferences (Routledge). He was a special adviser to Pascal Lamy the former commissioner for trade. He is currently member of the Commission on the French white Paper on foreign policy and European affairs.
