U-M STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS AND INFORMATION

 

OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS (OIP)
The University of Michigan's Office of International Programs (OIP) is a department of The College of the Literature, Sciences, and Arts and sponsors over 80 study abroad programs throughout the world. OIP programs are designed to enrich the undergraduate experience by offering students opportunities for cultural immersion, intensive language learning, and participation in another educational system. Students earn Michigan in-residence credit for their coursework and may apply Michigan awarded financial aid to program costs. OIP supports programs in European countries including Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

OVERSEAS OPPORTUNITIES OFFICE
The Overseas Opportunities Office, a unit of the U-M International Center, provides information about options for studying, working, or traveling abroad to students and other members of the U-M community. The mission of the office is to serve as a one-stop resource for finding overseas educational opportunities, both curricular and co-curricular, available through all U-M units and selected external organizations.

"STUDY IN EUROPE"

The European Commission has launched a new web portal called "Study in Europe" to promote the attractiveness of European Higher Education to students from other parts of the world.

 

TRANSATLANTIC MASTERS PROGRAM
An intensive one-year masters program bridging Europe and the United State. Participating Schools: University of North carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Washington, Seattle; University of Bath, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Charles University, Prague; Freie Universitat Berlin; Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin, Sciences Po, Paris; Universita degli Studi di Siena.

STUDY IN FRANCE
Study Law in France: Study in one of the countries where the modern system of Romano-Germanic law was born.  Apply online at www.EduDroit.net

Study Economics or Business Administration in France: Access to more than 200 Master’s programs in over 20 Universities.  Apply online at www.EduEcoGestion.net

American Assistants in France: The French Ministry of Education is offering 1,700 teaching assistantship positions in French primary and secondary schools. Open to American citizens between 30-35 years old, who are pursuing or have pursued a college degree and have a proficiency in French. Apply online at www.frenchculture.org/education/

Campus France: CampusFrance works to build a bridge between the student, the French university or study abroad, and the visa services. Apply online at www.usa.campusfrance.org

Fulbright Study and/or Research Grants to France:  Study at Ecole normale Supérieures  (ENS) de Cachan.  Open to graduating college seniors, Master's and Ph.D. level candidates. Spend 6-12 months in France, receive monthly stipend, full tuition wavier, and access to language instruction if needed, along with a travel allowance and health insurance from the Fulbright program. Bourses Chateaubriand: 20 fellowships for research in France, open to those enrolled in a doctorate program in an American University, for research in Humanities or Social Sciences, includes monthly stipend of 1300 euros for a period of 9 months, health insurance, round trip ticket to France, and 30 days per diem for travel in France for research purposes. EUROScholars: EUROPEAN UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
A group of leading research universities in Europe have joined together to create a new undergraduate research program called EUROScholars. This program is open to qualified students from North America who have interest in gaining a semester of academic credit and research experience.
This innovative study abroad program is designed for advanced, high performing undergraduate students. Students may apply to undertake research studies alongside top professors in a variety of disciplines while also completing a unit on research methods and a language/culture component.
