ACADEMICS

In 2005, UM and the International Institute established the Center for International and Comparative Studies (CICS). Our purpose is to promote teaching, research and outreach on themes of international significance that cut across geographic areas.

CICS programs offer instruction encompassing the ideas, methods, and approaches of multiple disciplines. A number of the courses offered or supported by CICS are team-taught, such as those on Global Interdependence, Global Health, the Graduate Seminar on Global Transformations, and the Human Rights Seminar.

CICS also offers a rigorous, undergraduate interdisciplinary International Studies Minor including one interdisciplinary thematic seminar each semester.
