The December 2013 Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) has been successfully completed.  The next administration of JLPT in the United States is Sunday, December 7, 2014.  Registration for this test administration is anticipated to open in late August 2014.

Test scores for the December 2014 JLPT is expected to be available in late February 2014.

Time and Place

Test Date

The test date for 2013 is Sunday, December 1. Please note that this is the last day of the Thanksgiving weekend. Due to strict rules that require world-wide administration of the JLPT on the same day, it will be administered as scheduled and cannot be moved to another day because of the US holiday weekend.

JLPT is administered annually on the first Sunday in December. The July administration of JLPT is NOT given in the United States.

Time

JLPT begins promptly at 1pm. Examinees are requested to arrive at 12:30pm for check-in. Depending on the testing level, JLPT takes 2 to 3.5 hours, including breaks between sections. Detailed test schedules will be sent to each registered examinee with the Test Admission Voucher in November.

Location

The test will be given in the Mason Hall classrooms on U-M's Central Campus in Ann Arbor. Exact room assignments will be mailed with your Test Admission Voucher in November.

Lodging and Transportation

Please be aware that the day before the test, Saturday, November 30, is a home football game day (against Ohio State University) and lodging in Ann Arbor for Saturday night is expected to be scarce.

Public transportation (AATA and U-M campus blue shuttle)  is expected to be on a reduced schedule during Thanksgiving weekend.  Please plan ahead, check their schedule, and allow extra time to arrive at the test site.

Registration Procedure

Registration for the December 2014 administration of JLPT is anticipated to open in late August 2014.  Both online registration and registration by mail will be available; a link for online registration will be provided on this page when it opens.  All test takers must be registered; there will be NO LATE registration and NO ON-SITE registration.

JLPT Test registration is non-transferable and non-refundable.

Registration for all test sites in the United States is handled by the JLPT Administration Committee in the United States office, hosted by the American Association of Teachers of Japanese and located in Boulder, Colorado.

Test Scores
