Student Funding

Numerous funding options are available for students in Japanese Studies for language study, research travel to Japan, unpaid internships related to Japan, graduate study, travel to conferences for paper presentation and professional development, dissertation fieldwork, dissertation writing, and postdoctoral study and research. The Center encourages students to apply for funding, and the CJS Academic Services Coordinator is available to consult with students on funding options.

Use the navigation links on the right side of this page for further information about the various funding options available.  The first seven links represent funding administered by the Center for Japanese Studies.  The last two links will lead to pages with information on funding provided by other units at the University of Michigan and by external foundations and governmental agencies.
