Other Events
The Center for Japanese Studies offers many annual and special one-time events throughout the year. CJS's annual events include the Mochitsuki, Michigan Japanese Quiz Bowl, and the International Institute's "International Pavilion" at the Ann Arbor Book Festival. Two of CJS's most recent large-scale, one-time events have been Momoi in America (November/December 2007) and X-Treme Documentary: Kazuo Hara + Michael Moore (May 2007). CJS also hosts academic conferences, seminars, and workshops; such as the April 2009 conference, "Financial Bubbles, Banking Bailouts, and Automotive Survival: A US-Japan Comparison."
In June 2010, CJS will host a workshop entitled, "Japan's Long Nineteenth Century: An Interdisciplinary Workshop and Practicum." Click here for more information.
