The International Institute and the Center for Japanese Studies are pleased to announce that Kiyoteru Tsutsui, Associate Professor of Sociology, will serve as Director of the Human Rights Initiative (HRI) for a three-year term. Professor Tsutsui conducts research on the evolution of human rights organizations and the impact of humans rights organizing on society in Japan and in other countries. In addition, he has directed the human rights lecture series for the HRI for several years. Thanks to new funding for the HRI, there are enhanced opportunities to forge collaborations across campus and provide resources to faculty and students with interests in the study of human rights.
