The Japan Kits are a collection of materials to explore aspects of culture and life in Japan. Based on educator input, the Japan Kits have been revised to focus on three broad themes:
- Contemporary Japan: Customs, Traditions & Pop Culture
- Folk Tales, Myths & Cross Cultural Experiences
- Food, Nature & Society
The Japan Kits are available for loan and free to use. The Center for Japanese Studies pays the one-way shipping cost to the requested address. The user agrees to pay a $50 security deposit (refundable) for each kit prior to loan and is responsible for return-shipping fees. Remit checks to "The University of Michigan." There is a maximum loan period of 21 days from postdate sent to postdate returned. To reserve a kit, complete the reservation form and return it by regular mail, e-mail, or by faxing it to 734.936.2948.
