Concurrent Undergraduate/ Graduate Studies (CUGS)

Undergraduate programs in Japanese studies are administered by the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA).  ALC offers a major in Asian Studies in which students can select a Japanese Studies track, and academic minors in Asian Studies and Asian Language.  Another option for students who wish to situate Japan in a broader global and international context is the major and academic minor in International Studies, administered by the Program in International and Comparative Studies (PICS).

Undergraduate/Graduate Dual Degree

The Center for Japanese Studies welcomes undergraduates with a strong commitment to Japanese Studies with an excellent academic record to apply to the Master of Arts in Japanese Studies as a Concurrent Undergraduate/ Graduate Studies (CUGS) student.
