We are delighted to announce CKS has recently received new funding from SeAH-Haiam Art and Science Scholarship Foundation and the Korean Foundation for graduate study. Please check our “Grants and Fellowships” for available grant opportunities. Details about these new funding opportunities in Korean studies will be posted soon.
"Koryo Saram-The Unreliable People" has won the National Board of Canada's Best Documentary Award at the 2007 Toronto Reel Asian International Film festival. The film was produced by the University of Michigan Center for Korean Studies and the Executive Producer was Meredith Woo. The film was co-directed by Y. David Chung and Matt Dibble.
We would like to congratulate Monica Kim who has recently received a Fulbright Scholar Award. U-M produced the highest number of 2007-08 Fulbright awards for American students, with 37 receiving grants. Yale University followed with 27 grantees. Amongst 37 U-M produced awardees is Monica Kim who conducted research on "Narrating Human Rights and the Nation during the Korean War".
