Research Scientist Geoff Emberling will speak on the topic of “Decolonizing Archaeology in the Shadow of Ancient Pyramids at El-Kurru, Sudan” at the African Studies Center’s 15th-anniversary conference. A two-day event highlighting the collaborations and partnerships between U-M and Africa, “Higher Education in the 21st Century: Keys to US-Africa Partnership” will feature distinguished speakers and panelists who discuss the future of higher education, academic collaboration, and student engagement. Geoff’s talk will fit into a larger discussion focused on decolonizing ancient history and archaeology in Africa.

This conference takes place on Friday–Saturday, April 5–6, 2024, at 1010 Weiser Hall, Ann Arbor. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. Learn more
