Disposition: A. Journal of Cult. Histories and Theories
Dispositio/n:American Journal of Cultural Histories and Theories
The aim of Dispositio/n: American Journal of Cultural Histories and Theories is to contribute to interdisciplinary and comparative research on semiotic practices in the colonial and post-colonial Americas. Founded in 1976 by Walter Mignolo and housed for three decades at the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, Dispositio/n now has a new home in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Michigan. The editors of the journal pay special attention to exploring issues relevant to understanding the plurilingual and multicultural realities of South and North America and the Caribbean. Dispositio/n examines verbal as well as non-verbal languages, "popular" as well as "high" culture, and Amerindian as well as European languages and cultures. The journal also encourages theoretical and innovative approaches to research programs and teaching goals in the humanities or the human sciences. Publication in the series is primarily by invitation. The current issue, Ten Years After: Latin American Subaltern Studies Revisited (Vol. 25, No. 52), is now available. We plan to make future issues available as downloadable pdf files. For more information, please contact lacs.office@umich.edu, or call (734) 763-0553.
