The Arctic Internship Fellowship provides funding for select University of Michigan students to complete a summer internship at one of the following: The Center for Military and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary (CMSS); the Inuit Circumpolar Council-Alaska (ICC-AK); or the Labrador Institute. The granting of this fellowship is contingent on the partner organizations' ability and desire to accept nominated students; therefore, the number of awards may fluctuate from year to year. Students graduating in WN/SP/SU 2016 are not eligible to apply.
Undergraduate students at the University of Michigan, from any department, are eligible to apply. Grants of up to $2,000 to will be awarded to a limited number of students. Funding can be used by the student to pay travel and living expenses. These funds are primarily intended for students with an unpaid internship. If the student has a paid internship, it is possible to receive funding to offset expenses not covered by the host organization.
Priority will be given to applications from students with an interest in or working on topics related to the Arctic region, and related to the work of the host institution.
Applicants must submit application via MCompass.
Applications will be reviewed by members of the International Institute committee and staff members of hosting organizations. Awards will be based on the quality of the materials submitted.
