Checking the Status of Your Application
Once you submit your Rackham online application, you may check the status of your application, including whether paper materials such as transcripts and recommendations have been received by the Center through Wolverine Access. Wolverine Access is a web-based application that the University uses to conduct most of its business. As an applicant to the University of Michigan, you will have access to the New & Prospective Student Business section of Wolverine Access.
In this section, you will find information on:
- Getting a Friend Account to access Wolverine Access
- How to log in to Wolverine Access and what you can do
- How to check the status of your admission application
Get a Friend Account
In order to access Wolverine Access, you first need to create a Friend Account. If you have not done so already, follow this link to a page that will explain how you can get this account. This page will also explain what to do if you can't remember your login or your password.
Log on to Wolverine Access
Once you have your Friend Account login and password, go to Wolverine Access at wolverineaccess.umich.edu. You will find that Wolverine Access is user friendly and intuitive.
From the Student section, select New & Prospective Student Business. If you have not done so already, this will take you to a login page; login using your Friend Account login and password. If you login successfully, you will be taken to the New & Prospective Student Business page. Here are some examples of business you can conduct with the University of Michigan using these pages:

Checking the Status of Your Application
To view the status of your application, log on to Wolverine Access, select New & Prospective Student Business, and then select View Application Status under the Admissions Information column. Clicking on the link will take you to a new screen titled Admission Application Status. This is a summary page of your application, listing all applications to the University of Michigan. (Note: if you applied to more than one program at the University of Michigan, you will see a separate box for each application.)
A box contains a summary of each application, including the term of application, academic program name, application number, and the date of application. Immediately below this information, you will see whether this application is complete.
At the top of the screen, you will see a series of tabs on which you can click to navigate to different panels of information. On the Application Verification panel, you will find your basic application information such as your program information, personal information, contact information, and previous schools. Please verify this information to make sure that it is correct. You can use the links provided to update your contact information. If there are errors in any other part of this page, please contact the Center for Japanese Studies Student Services Coordinator at cjsadmissions@umich.edu.
If you click on the Credentials tab, you will see the list of credentials you are required to submit for admission, and which items have been received. You will see, in order, transcripts, academic tests (including GRE and TOEFL), recommendations, and other required materials, and when we received them. Under other required materials, you can see whether we have received your academic statement of purpose, personal statement, resume, fellowship application, and language evaluation form.
Application status information will be updated beginning on December 1. For the month of December, information will be updated weekly, usually on Mondays. This year, the Center offices will be closed for the holidays between December 25 and January 3, and no updates will be made during this time. Beginning on January 4, status information will be updated at least twice a week, generally on Mondays and Thursdays.
