How to Apply to the Graduate Certificate Program


  

The Center for Chinese Studies is very pleased to offer a new 15-credit hour Graduate Certificate in Chinese Studies. This certificate is intended for UM graduate-level students in LS&A departments and professional schools, as well as students who have completed a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan or any other university within the past 5 years. The goal of the certificate is to provide a program of study grounded in in-depth interdisciplinary understandings of China to students whose academic and career trajectories require China-focused knowledge and training.

Applicants will need the following information to complete their application:

Application deadline is March 31 for fall term and October 15 for winter term

 

Students in any UM Rackham program must submit:

  • Rackham Dual Degree/Program Application, signed by chair of the applicant's current program
  • Current UM transcript
  • Statement of purpose that explains the applicant's interest in the Certificate Program and his or her background in Chinese Studies
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • CCS Language report

Up to 1/6 of the total hoursof the UM master's program, not to exceed half of the certificate may be double-counted. Completion of the graduation requirements for both programs will result in two separate citations on the academic transcript and two separate diplomas,

 

Students in any non-Rackham or Graduates from any non-Rackham schools (including universities other than UM) must submit:

  • Rackham application and application fee
  • Official transcripts from all universities attended
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Language report (part of Rackham application)
  • GRE or GMAT, LSAT, MCAT scores for applicants from Professional Schools
  • TOEFL scores for international students
