Blakemore Freeman Fellowships for Advanced Asian Language Study
The Blakemore Foundation makes between 20 and 40 grants available each year for advanced language study of modern Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Southeast Asian languages during the academic year.
The grants will fund one year of advanced language study at an institutions in Asia that provide language training. Where there is no structured advanced-level language program at an educational institution in the country, the grant may provide for the financing of private tutorials under terms set forth in the application instructions.
The grants cover tuition and a stipend for related educational expenses, basic living costs and transportation, but do not include dependent expenses.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Be pursuing an academic, professional or business career that involves the regular use of a modern Asian language;
2. Have a college undergraduate degree;
3. Be at or near an advanced level in the language;
4. Be able to devote oneself exclusively to the language study during the term of the grant;
5. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States;
