Ethan Bornstein spent last summer living, working, and volunteering in Durban, South Africa. While there, he conducted HIV and tuberculosis research at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Nelson Mandela Medical School, shadowed doctors at one of Durban’s largest urban hospitals, and volunteered at a local orphanage.
