From the Director of the International Institute

Welcome to the Center for World Performance Studies (CWPS) at the University of Michigan International Institute. During the 2009-2010 academic year, CWPS will be in a period of transition as we recruit a new director and plan for a significant expansion of the center’s activities and programs.

This expansion is being carried out with support from the Office of the Provost and in collaboration with key faculty members and academic units. It will build on the strong foundation developed by the center’s outgoing director, Glenda Dickerson. Under her leadership, CWPS developed the Artists-in-Residence and Graduate Student Residency programs. Although the center will not be accepting applications for these or other programs during the transition period, we expect to provide information no later than spring 2010 about center programming for the 2010-2011 academic year.

We are very excited about this opportunity to enrich and expand our programs devoted to performance studies around the world. Our plans will take shape in the coming months, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
