Major Projects:
- Research Director of Global REACH, the Medical School's international initiative. She is also a Research Investigator in the Department of Medical Education at the Medical School and a faculty mentor for the NIH-funded Minority and Health Disparities International Research Training Program (MHIRT). Her research interests include quality of life assessment, psychosocial correlates of health, health outcomes research, and doctor-patient communication. Her recent work includes an examination of the role of optimism/pessimism in HIV test acceptance among pregnant women in Ghana.
- A Bill and Melinda Gates funded cross-campus research and practice initiative to address human resource needs in Ghana. This project involves the Medical School, the School of Public Health, the Center for Global Health, and many other units on campus here in Ann Arbor, as well as the University of Ghana, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Ghanaian Ministry of Health in Ghana.
