Supporting WCED

WCED, inaugurated in 2008, combines academics with practical applications with the goal to advance and disseminate knowledge about, and promote public engagement with, emerging democracies and the historical conditions necessary for assuring and extending political, social, and economic freedoms. Initially focusing on transitions in Europe and Eurasia, it will subsequently expand its scope to other emerging democracies across the globe. WCED also works alongside the Center for Russian and East European Studies and Center for European Studies-European Union Center in association with the Ronald and Eileen Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia. A donation to the Emerging Democracies Fund is the surest way to establish the University of Michigan as a leader in this field.

Gifts may be made to WCED and are deductible as allowed by law. Gifts may be made with cash, checks, or credit cards; matching gifts (please include the appropriate paperwork from the matching agency with your gift); and securities (stock gifts). A life income plan may provide immediate tax advantages and generate annual income streams for you or other named beneficiaries. The University of Michigan will help you select the plan that is best for you and your situation. The Weiser Strategic Fund

Gifts to the Weiser Strategic Fund support student fellowships and internships, faculty initiatives, international collaboration, courses, conferences, lecture series, and other projects that enhance interdisciplinary knowledge about, and public engagement with, emerging democracies in Europe and Eurasia, past and present, as well as the institutions, cultures, and histories of these regions more broadly.
