The Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies 2007 photo competition was entitled "China: Traditions New and Old," and invited submissions of contemporary and original photographs taken in China. Faculty, staff and students affiliated with the center and with the University of Michigan were eligible to submit up to two photos within this theme, and submissions appear above. Contest requirements included submission of a short description of where the photo was taken, and how this image related to the overall theme of the contest. Submissions were judged by a panel of China Center faculty affiliates and staff, and were judged on artistic and technical ability, and the degree to which the image conveyed the theme.
An exhibition of these photos were displayed in the gallery space of the International Institute from October 1-27, 2007.
